As mentioned in the section on “Occasional Behavior,” the tantras discuss the importance of proper elimination and purification. The Ambrosia Heart Tantra says, “Good purification makes for a complete cure and an absence of ailments.”13

Purification in the bodily sense is an important aspect of the therapy known as Len Nga (Sanskrit—Pancha Karma). Len Nga, or Pancha Karma, means “five actions.” These actions are intended to cleanse, renutrify, and rejuvenate the body. There are different ways in which the body is purified, and each one of these ways is best done in accordance with a person’s constitution and presenting conditions. Elaboration of these methods and when they are most appropriate is found in the chapter “Detoxification and Rejuvenation.”
